I Can't Leave It Behind

by Jason Beers

/

about

A song about 2020 and those that made it worse.

lyrics

Have you forgotten the year, when the sand all got in the gears? Scratching and scraping and rearranging, the bullets got nearer and nearer.
Have you you forgotten the time, when our lives all stopped on a dime?
We stayed at home and suffered being alone. Have you forgotten the year? I don't know if I have the words to be kind. I don't know, truth be told, I don't have the nerve just to leave it behind.
To those that went off the rails, so sure we'd be hammering the nails.
We saved the last to hoist up the mast. A funeral at sea wrapped in sails/sales. They say to forgive and forget, but I haven't forgiven just yet. Forgave and forgot ran colder than hot. Have you forgotten the year?
I don't know if I have the words to be kind. I don't know, truth be told, I don't have the nerve just to leave it behind.
